Unhinged Bobby Lashley Is the Best Bobby Lashley

The past couple months have showcased a different side of Bobby Lashley. Back at SummerSlam, for instance, he took out Goldberg’s teenage son by putting him in the Hurt Lock. Funnily enough, this was met with a raucous crowd reaction in favor of the beatdown. Then, just last week on Monday Night Raw, as The New Day battled The Bloodline, Lashley came down and destroyed them all. It was a response to having lost the WWE Championship to Big E, and it was brutal.
Bobby Lashley was giving out spears left and right, exploding right through The Usos, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Big E, and even WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. This led to a triple threat match between Reigns, Big E, and Lashley later in the night, which Reigns won by pinning Lashley, but it was still highly entertaining to see Lashley put the hurt on everyone earlier on the show.
Now, before I make my next point, I truly hope Big E has a long and memorable WWE Title reign. That said, can we have an unhinged Bobby Lashley just crush dudes left and right more often?

When he was in Impact Wrestling, Bobby Lashley was frequently referred to as “The Destroyer.” It was a fitting moniker considering the dude has a legit background in amateur wrestling and mixed martial arts, and he was a part of the armed forces. Lashley is, for all intents and purposes, a legit destroyer, so that’s more than a nickname, really.
I was always a fan of Bobby Lashley during his original run in WWE, which started in 2005. It was a bummer to see him leave the company, but it was cool when he returned in 2018. While he was involved in some noteworthy feuds and matches, though, he didn’t really find his stride until he joined MVP and formed The Hurt Business. That’s when we saw a more destructive side of “The Almighty.”
As WWE Champion, he showed a lot of dominance, besting opponents like Drew McIntyre, The Miz, Goldberg, and Randy Orton. Now that he’s lost the title, though, he should continue down the path of destruction. I don’t think he needs to win another title right away, but I’d like to see this unhinged version of Lashley engage in some awesome feuds where he displays his ruthlessness more often. Heck, maybe he and MVP can go for the Raw Tag Team Championships at some point.

Maybe The Hurt Business can get drafted to SmackDown so Lashley can have a fresh set of opponents to do battle with. It would be great to see him take on the likes of Seth Rollins, Edge, Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Apollo Crews. Not to mention, if John Cena makes another return, maybe we can get a program where the unhinged Bobby Lashley absolutely demolishes Cena.
Also, as we continue to see Roman Reigns go through the competition on SmackDown, maybe a newly drafted Bobby Lashley can channel is inner unhinged destroyer and take the WWE Universal Championship off the leader of The Bloodline.
Look, I get it, I’m totally geeking out over some fantasy booking here. But I’ve always appreciated Bobby Lashley’s in-ring work, especially when he’s paired with MPV. It’s a powerhouse gimmick that isn’t complicated, and it just works. And if the past couple weeks are any indication, this new, unhinged persona could be what leads to the transition between “The Almighty” Bobby Lashley to “The Destroyer” Bobby Lashley!
