AEW Confirms Bobby Fish Signing Following TNT Title Match

When Sammy Guevara defeated Miro for the AEW TNT Championship, the first person who came a-knockin’ on the “forbidden door” was none other than Bobby Fish. It wasn’t long before a title match between Fish and Guevara was made. That match took place earlier tonight on the two-year anniversary AEW Dynamite special. It was a solid match, with Guevara retaining the title.

Fans speculated whether Bobby Fish would be a mainstay of AEW considering he recently participated in MLW’s Opera Cup tournament. In addition, he has a long and storied history with Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, so both companies were seen as possibilities. Well, per the All Elite Wrestling Twitter account, it looks like Fish has officially signed with the company.

Though Fish was part of WWE’s recent string of releases, fans figured he’d return to wrestling as soon as his no-compete clause expired. Sadly, while Bobby Fish did have some success in WWE, winning the NXT Tag Team Championship twice with former reDRagon partner Kyle O’Reilly, he was sidelined with multiple injuries during his tenure with the company.

Speaking of O’Reilly, you have to wonder if he’ll be joining AEW at some point down the road. Both he and Fish were members of The Undisputed Era in NXT along with Adam Cole (who’s rejoined his buddies in The Elite) and Roderick Strong (who’s the current NXT Cruiserweight Champion). Only time will tell.

It’s pretty exciting to see Bobby Fish sign with AEW. He definitely has a great opportunity to both compete at a higher level with AEW’s top stars as well as share some of his experience with the younger wrestlers in the company.
