Fight Forever Match of the Week: Adam Cole vs. Jungle Boy (9/29/2021)

The last week of wrestling was host to multiple excellent match-ups. We got AJ Styles vs. Riddle in one of the best Monday Night Raw matches in recent memory. Bryan Danielson and Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks kicked off AEW Rampage with a banger of a match. Miro defended and subsequently lost the AEW TNT Championship to Sammy Guevara in an exciting bout. I could really go on and on about how action-packed this past week was, but there can only be one Fight Forever Match of the Week, so that honor goes to Adam Cole vs. Jungle Boy.
The match between Cole and Jungle Boy took place on the September 29, 2021 edition of AEW Dynamite, and it was everything one could hope for and more. We got to see superkicks and stiff clotheslines. Jungle Boy hit a sick-as-hell poisonrana and Adam Cole answered back with a Panama Sunrise. Both men flew around inside and outside of the ring.
Ultimately, Adam Cole used trickery and a well-placed low blow to set up Jungle Boy for his finishing maneuver, securing a victory in the process and putting another win on The Elite’s scoreboard.
This is one of those matches you revisit frequently because it’s just so damn good. It’s awesome when a TV match feels like a pay-per-view match, and that’s exactly what Adam Cole vs. Jungle Boy felt like: A high-stakes match you’d see showcased on a major wrestling event.
When Adam Cole made the jump from NXT to AEW, these are the types of matches fans were looking forward to, and his battle with Jungle Boy didn’t disappoint in the slightest. We’ve already featured Cole twice on our Fight Forever Match of the Week column, so I guess you could say Adam Cole is the first two-time Wrestlevolve champ! Will he go for a third? I mean, it’s Adam Cole, so there’s a very high likelihood of that happening sooner rather than later!
