AEW’s Fuego Del Sol Is Living the Gimmick in the Best Way

Tonight’s AEW Rampage main event saw Miro, also known as “The Redeemer” and “God’s Favorite Champion,” take on Fuego Del Sol. The latter has gained a solid following for his in-ring antics and comedic moments, and he helped create a fun underdog story with Miro. The two faced off not only for Miro’s TNT Championship, but also for Fuego Del Sol’s car. That’s right — he put the vehicle that he bought with his hard-earned money on the line. That’s wrestling, folks!

The match was mostly a squash and probably won’t win any match of the year or even match of the week awards, though it was entertaining. Fuego putting in some decent offense briefly but never quite picking up enough steam to dethrone Miro. The TNT Champ ended up winning decisively via submission, which means he keeps his title and gets Fuego Del Sol’s car.

The best thing coming out of this angle is that Fuego is playing up the angle on social media. Not too long after Rampage went off the air, Fuego Del Sol tweeted the following:

Fuego Del Sol Loses Car on AEW Rampage

This was met with various humorous responses from fans. Some told Fuego he should’ve swallowed his keys so Miro couldn’t take the car, and others tried to convince the masked wrestler to go for it one more time and put his house on the line. Some folks were even offering to get an Uber for Fuego. Of course, others even said he should hitch a ride with fellow AEW wrestler Trent and his mom.

Even Isiah Kassidy of Private Party chimed in, though he wasn’t as gracious toward Feugo Del Sol. Kassidy resorted to name-calling, to which Fuego hilariously misunderstood that the insult was directed toward him. He replied:

Fuego Del Sol Twitter

It’ll fun seeing if this car-less Fuego Del Sol angle continues to play out. After the match ended, Miro proceeded to beat the heck out of Fuego. This prompted Sammy Guevara to rush to the ring and make the save on behalf of his friend, so we’ll likely see Sammy vs. Miro very soon.

I hope Fuego Del Sol does keep this whole “I need a ride” thing going. In today’s age of social media and constant connectivity, wrestlers typically turn off their characters after a match or promo. There are a few exceptions, of course, and if we’re being honest, some wrestlers really shouldn’t be living the gimmick. But just like Baron Corbin played the hell out of a broke heel on SmackDown and kept the role going on Twitter, no-car Feugo Del Sol could be just as entertaining if he commits himself to the gimmick.

We might even see Fuego riding with Trent and his mom!
