NXT Championship to Be Decided on NXT 2.0 Debut

A new era of NXT begins tomorrow when the brand is rebooted as NXT 2.0. Yesterday, Samoa Joe relinquished the NXT Championship, citing an injury that will leave him unable to defend the title.

A fatal 4-way match between Tommaso Ciampa, Kyle O’Reilly, Pete Dunne, and LA Knight was scheduled for tomorrow to decide the number one contender and Joe’s first challenger for the championship. Due to Joe no longer being NXT Champ, however, that match has been officially turned into a championship match, with the winner being crowned the new NXT Champion.

The announcement was made by NXT General Manager William Regal via Twitter. The match features four of NXT’s top talents, so it should make for an exciting bout. Plans for a change to NXT have been in the news for a while now, so it’ll be interesting seeing how the winner of the fatal 4-way and next NXT Champion fits into those plans.
