Fight Forever Match of the Week: Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair (11/1/2021)

Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair - Monday Night Raw

Welcome to Wrestlevolve’s Fight Forever Match of the Week. Here we’ll highlight one match from the week in professional wrestling and talk about why it was one of our favorites. It could be a 30-minute epic or the exciting culmination of an entertaining feud. It might be a pay-per-view bout or a really solid TV match. Wrestling resonates with everyone differently, so feel free to let us know what your match of the week was in the comments!

Two of WWE’s top competitors put on one hell of a match on the November 1, 2021 edition of Monday Night Raw. Becky Lynch put her Raw Women’s Championship on the line against Bianca Belair in an absolutely exciting back-and-forth contest.

Much like Bianca Belair vs. Charlotte Flair back in October, this bout had all the makings of a pay-per-view main event. Unfortunately, also like that match, this one ended in shenanigans. But hey, at least they were shenanigans that made sense — even if it is starting to get a little stale how Belair keeps getting screwed out of championships. We’ll definitely get into that later, but for now, let’s talk about the match, shall we?

Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair

During the course of the championship match, both Lynch and Belair showcased high levels of athleticism and ring psychology. Lynch was crafty and utilized her scrappy in-ring style, while Belair showed off her impressive power.

Speaking of which, we all know that Bianca Belair uses offense that relies mostly on her awesome strength. But even though it’s easy to expect her to do something cool, it’s always still really awe-inspiring seeing her pull off feats of strength, especially because she doesn’t sacrifice speed and agility in favor of raw power. Instead, what you get with Belair is a beautiful combination of agility and physical strength.

There were a few moments where it looked like Belair was going to pick up the win and reclaim championship gold, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. The finish came when Becky Lynch shoved Bianca Belair into an exposed turnbuckle. That led to Lynch rolling Belair up (with a handful of tights, too) for the one-two-three.

It’s a shame that Bianca Belair hasn’t regained the Women’s Title — especially when you consider the fact that between her match against Charlotte Flair and this recent battle against Becky Lynch, there have been two major opportunities to put the title back around Belair’s waist.

Admittedly, the match’s finish left a bit to be desired, but at the very least, fans weren’t force-fed a poor DQ finish, as was the case when Belair and Flair fought. Still, it’s no secret that WWE likes to prolong babyface title chases. Sometimes it can work out, as was the case with Bryan Danielson when he ultimately won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania.

Unfortunately, other times, fans just stop caring, and they tune out long before WWE’s plans come to fruition. Here’s hoping Bianca Belair returns back to the top before the fans lose interest, because it would be a shame if that happened to someone with this much talent and charisma.
